Distillate is a type of cannabis oil. When producing distillate, the intention is that THC and/or CBD is extracted in isolation, with most plant matter, terpenes, and other cannabinoids removed from the finished product. Because most of the compounds which give cannabis its smell and taste are removed, distillate can be used to make edibles which do not have the smell and taste usually associated with traditional cannabis edibles made with cannabutter. Because it is an isolate of THC and/or CBD, distillate does not have strain specific (indica/sativa) effects, unless terpenes are reintroduced to the distillate. Distillate is ‘active’, meaning that it does not need to be heated to produce effects, and can be eaten directly.

CBD is a cannabis compound that is generally considered non-psychoactive, meaning taken alone it does not alter consciousness like THC does. CBD can reduce inflammation across the body, reduce frequency of epileptic seizures, and may have anxiolytic (anxiety reducing) effects.
