THC is the primary psychoactive compound of the cannabis plant. It is mostly responsible for the cognitive and mood altering effects of cannabis. CBD tends to make the effects of THC more mild and easy-going, rounding down the perceived ‘intensity’ of the THC effects in proportion to the amount of CBD (the more CBD, the less intense the THC effects). THC and CBD taken together also tend to provide enhanced pain relieving effects over just one or the other
