Applying for the DC Medical Cannabis Program

Welcome to the National Holistic family! To register with our dispensary, you must register through the Alcoholic Beverage Regulation Administration (ABRA) to become a certified medical cannabis patient. Fee waivers will be extended for new and renewal cards!

ABRA is open for walk-ins Monday - Friday from 9 a.m. - 4 p.m. for cards. Or, follow the easy steps below to sign up online!

Updates as of 10/20/2022:

• Prospective patients 21+ (residents AND non-residents) may now self-certify! No doctor’s appointment required.
• Residents: $0 Application Fee through January 3, 2023
• Non-Residents: $30 Application Fee for 30-day temporary card
• However, ABRA still requires 21+ patients to complete medical cannabis applications.
• Apply online & receive a temporary card (valid for 30 days) immediately via email. Official card will be emailed and mailed to you within 30 days of application.
• To ensure prompt receipt, please add ABRA’s email addressmedicalcannabis@dc.gov to your safe senders list, address book, or contact list.

HOW TO APPLY:

What you need to apply in DC:

Residents:

• DC REAL ID (with black star in top right corner) OR (1) proof of DC residency and (1) copy of government-issued photo ID
• One (1) current face photo, 2x2 inches
• Social Security number or copy of sworn affidavit stating lack of one
• Proof of low-income status for Red Box discount (if applicable)
  

Non-Residents:

• Self-Certification for individuals 21 and older
• One (1) copy of government-issued photo ID 
• One (1) current face photo, 2’”x2"
• Thirty dollar ($30) registration fee
• Upon submission, non-resident applicants will be sent an email with a payment link. After documents and payment are received, they will receive an email that will serve as the Non Resident 30-day Medical Cannabis Patient Registration. Once in receipt, the card can be used immediately!

Option 1: Complete the application online & your temporary card will be issued immediately via email. Select "Self-Certification" under Recommendation Information. This is the fastest option for new and renewal patients.

Option 2: Walk-in for on site application at National Holistic. Bring all necessary documentation listed below & you will have a card issued in less than 10 minutes!

Option 3: Complete the application online & visit ABRA for same-day processing. Select "Self-Certification" under Recommendation Information. This is the fastest option for new and renewing patients.

Applying for the Maryland Medical Cannabis Program

Welcome to the National Holistic family! To register with our dispensary, you must register through the Maryland Medical Cannabis Commission to become a certified medical cannabis patient. Follow the easy steps below!

Step 1: Visit the MMCC to register for the Maryland Medical Cannabis program. There is no cost to register for the program.

Step 2: Speak with a participating doctor for a referral. Get a Medical Cannabis Certified Doctor’s Referral (Cost ~ $100)

Step 3: Come in to National Holistic with your printed copy of your MMCC registration identification or your MMCC card. No need to call or set up an appointment, just walk in during hours of operation.

How to Qualify for a Medical Cannabis Card in Virginia

To qualify for a Virginia Medical Cannabis Card, you must meet the following qualifications:

• Be diagnosed with a medical condition you believe will benefit from medical cannabis treatment.
• Proof of Virginia residency (current VA Driver’s License or State ID card).

Step 3:  Schedule Criminal Background Check.

Step 4: ABRA Application and payment can be submitted directly to ALCOHOLIC BEVERAGE REGULATION ADMINISTRATION at 2000 14th Street, N.W. 4th Floor, Washington, DC 20009, or submitted to National Holistic Healing Center.

Step 5:  ABRA will process and mail your Medical Cannabis Caregiver Card.

Step 6:  Once you and your patient receive your cards, come into National Holistic. No need to call or set up an appointment, just walk in during hours of operation.
